Hooray! Teton Village is a Smashing & Splashing Good Time!

In the summer of 2010, there’s a hot (and cool) new hangout in the center of Teton Village. The Commons -right at  the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is complete with amphitheatre, pop jets and playgrounds that are perfect for little and big kids of all ages!

In addition to the great new space, Teton Village is alive with activities. From Alive at Five- every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at 5 pm, to Sunday’s “Concert on the Commons,” there’s plenty to do and many ways to entertain the little ones!

So, hop, skip and jump your way on out to Teton Village this weekend and check out Sunday’s “Concert on the Commons” with The Pimps of Joytime at 4 pm.

Cheers to a relaxing weekend in the sun! If you need to cool off with the kiddos, head over to Terra Cafe for an icy afternoon smoothie.  And all those in favor of  fun adult beverages, may want to check out Cascade for and Orange Crush, Cucumber Martini, Passion Fruit Marg!

Summer is in full swing in Jackson Hole and Teton Villages’s new “water park” is quite a popular addition to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort scene.

Happy Fourth of July from big, wonderful, Wyoming and Jackson Hole!

This year in Teton Village, we’re celebrating for two nights of Independence with “Red, White & 2.” That’s right, two nights of fireworks, festivities and free, live music.

Here’s some more information from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort:

 ”Festivities begin on Saturday on July 3rd at 7:30pm when Isaac Hayden: Live and Unplugged sets the tone with an outdoor blast of acoustic jamming in the new Village Commons. The Aerial Tram will be running till 8:30pm, giving visitors a rare summit perspective on the valley as day fades to night. Far away from bright lights, Teton Village’s dark skies will be home to a booming fireworks display starting at 10pm.”

“On the 4th the “Jackson 6 Band” will kick off the party at 7:30pm at the base of the Tram. The Gondola will be running till 9pm for late evening shuttles to the top. The fireworks begin at 10pm, with a Teton scale grand finale. We invite you to join us for one of the most memorable weekends of the summer.”

In honor of modification and all things local, today’s spotlight is on skiing local.

 Skiing Magazine features an interview and trailer from Jackson Hole-based KGB Productions new project, “Wyoming Triumph.” Shot on LOCation in the great Equality State, the filmmakers decided to forgo extraneous travel to exotic locations for studying the art of skiing right in their wild back yard of Wyoming. The movie will officially be out in Fall 2010 but here’s a little taste of Triumph thus far. Yee haw!

Undoubtably, extreme skiing pioneer and word class mountaineer, Doug Coombs, was king of Corbets. Todays weekly post is dedicated to Doug after the completion of the first Coombs Classic (last weekend at Jackson Hole). So as to not overdose our readers with too much footage, we thought we’d forgo the standard Corbets Carnage which usually airs every Thursday and replace it with a little collection of crashes from 2009 Dick’s Ditch Giant Banked Slalom.

So, if you are in Olympic withdrawal and you live here or are visiting, you can check out the 2010 race in the flesh today and tomorrow on the slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The ski and snowboard race course runs from Lupine Way down to South Pass traverse and spectating while skiing is a great way to spend a Saturday at Jackson Hole.

Rather not sit on the sidelines? The Teton Literacy Program asks “how many vertical feet can you shred?” with their annual fundraiser Laps for Literacy. Registration is at 8:30 am at Jackson Hole Mountain Resorts special events tent. Ski till your legs fall off…all for the great cause of literacy in Teton County.
