Modify Monday: “Dedicated to Stirring the Pot”

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Leaf[1]

This Modify Monday, let’s take a quick trip to the “Thought Kitchen.” The blog is brought to us by the innovative and sustainable retailer Nau.

In addition to “stirring” the proverbial “thought pot” the fresh and exciting blog strives for the following:

The Thought Kitchen is our effort at collective inquiry and its power to affect change. Have you ever noticed how the party is always in the kitchen? There are more walls to lean on and people are energized by the proximity to food and drink. Well, welcome to our kitchen, where we hope to tap into everything we love about that feeling—community, vivacious exchange, food for thought.

Check it out as well as the beautiful clothes Nau offers. http://blog.nau.com/

Press Release: Hotel Terra Awarded Prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009
Hotel Terra Jackson Hole Awarded AAA Four Diamond Rating
One of only a handful of hotels in the U.S. to Carry both the Four Diamond and
LEED Certified Designation
Small Final New ExteriorAugust 18, 2009 (Jackson Hole, WY) – The Automobile Association of America (AAA) bestowed its coveted Four Diamond rating on Hotel Terra in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. With this award, Hotel Terra, which is Silver LEED-certified, becomes one of a handful of LEED-certified hotels to also garner the AAA Four Diamond designation in North America. The award confirms Hotel Terra’s leadership position in setting the standard on environmental sustainability and luxury hospitality in this groundbreaking category.

“When we opened Hotel Terra, we pioneered the perfect blend of luxury and sustainability,” says Jamie Yarrow, President of Terra Resort Group. “The prestigious status of being Four-Diamond and LEED certified proves what we set out to do – provide extraordinary lodging experiences while operating an environmentally sensitive business model at the same time.”

Since 1977, the AAA’s Diamond Rating System has been the only rating system that covers all of North America, utilizing a rigorous examination that requires on-site evaluations conducted by one of AAA’s 65 full-time professional inspectors.

Less than three percent of the 60,000 AAA-approved and Diamond-rated properties carry the elite Four Diamond designation. To qualify for the Four Diamond Award, AAA requires that properties be upscale in all areas, offering refined and stylish accommodations accentuated by enhanced physical attributes. The defining characteristic of hotels at this rarefied level is that they include an extensive array of amenities and combine it with a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail.

”We share this honor with our wonderful staff whose commitment to provide outstanding hospitality has undoubtedly contributed to our success,” Yarrow said.  “We have accomplished a great deal together in a very short period of time.”

This distinguished award arrives just as Hotel Terra completes its new 68,000 square foot East Wing addition. The expansion project adds 60 guest rooms and suites, 4,200 square feet of new meeting space, an infinity plunge pool set on a rooftop terrace, as well as a state of the art fitness facility to complement the hotel’s Chill Spa. With this addition, the hotel brings its greener version of luxury to the next level, drawing corporate and incentive groups as well as weddings. Since the beginning, Hotel Terra has appealed to Jackson Hole enthusiasts looking for vibrant design, an attentive staff, high end resort amenities, and sustainable operations. The addition to Hotel Terra not only expands the slopeside presence of the property, it confirms Terra Resort Group’s leadership and success in developing an environmentally sensitive hotel operation without compromising the luxury experience.

Hotel Terra Jackson Hole opened in February 2008, landing a spot on the Condé Nast Traveler “Hot List” and Travel + Leisure’s “It List” shortly thereafter. The hotel was also named one of the Top Ten Eco-Hotels by TripAdvisor’s customer reviewers. Located slopeside to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, just a mile from Grand Teton National Park and an hour south of Yellowstone, Hotel Terra is ideally situated to bring something new to the luxury mountain lodge category.

About Terra Resort Group
Formed in November 2006, Terra Resort Group’s dynamic new management team is comprised of industry leaders and top talent from hospitality and business arenas.   Prior to Terra Resort Group, company President Jamie Yarrow was with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts for 18 years, most recently as General Manager of Four Seasons Palm Beach.  He led the opening management team for Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole. Rob DesLauriers, a former professional skier turned developer and hotelier, serves as Chairman of Terra Resort Group and was the developer of Hotel Terra.  Among other successes, DesLauriers launched the adjacent slope-side Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa in 2002, a 145-room luxury hotel that emulates the great park lodges of the American West, also a member of the Terra Resort Group.
