Hotel Terra’s Model for Modification: Windows

At the end of the day, do you know how your windows conserve or waste energy? Having energy efficient windows is essential to anyone concerned with the health of the environment both inside and outside.

Hotel Terra Jackson Hole’s windows are Energy Star approved, extremely efficient windows with Low E, a highly reflective coating that protects interiors from infrared light. What does that mean?

In simplest terms, it means that the windows keep heat in during the winter and out during the summer, thereby reducing the need for energy used for supplemental heating and cooling.

Get on the bandwagon and update those windows. While the initial expense may seem slightly outrageous to you, the payoff screams when you get your new monthly energy bills.

Hotel Terra Jackson Hole is a LEED Certified Eco-Boutique hotel located in Teton Village, WY. A.K.A Jackson Hole!

Modify Monday: Green-Up Your Valentine

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Letterpress Valentine's Day Card. Folk Flowers in Watermelon Pink (lovely letterpress via sycamorestreetpress at www.Etsy.com)

With V A L E N T I N E S Day less than a week away, consider bringing a new twist to the age-old commercial holiday by going green!

Some easy places to start:

1. Make your own card or buy one handprinted (*see above) on recycled paper.

2. Instead of the traditional long-stemmed roses (grown god knows where) buy a plant that will stand the test of time (if you treat it properly).

3. ORGANIC CHOCOLATE

4. Perhaps mixing it up with sustainable suds? Buy some bubble bath from a eco-friendly company. May we suggest Eminence Organics products available at Hotel Terra’s Chill Spa.

There’s a great slew of suggestions out there. Here’s just a few.
