Cayuse Western American Gallery sent our Chef Concierge at Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa an e- blast reminding us all about Art Walk reading as follows:
“The Cayuse Western Americana Gallery, in association with the Jackson Hole Gallery Association, is holding an ArtWalk this Thursday night January 15th from 5 – 8pm. There will be appetizers and spiced wine, and plenty to look at on a cold winter evening.
At Cayuse Western Americana, we’ll have all our usual unique vintage cowboy, cowgirl, and Native American pieces, as well as, our new Bemis Bros. Bag Company’s Calendar of North American Game Animals framed lithographs. These are from 1903, and have great color and ArtNouveau graphics. We have all twelve from the Grizzly bear to the Polar bear!”
Art Walk is lots of fun and it’s free! Head to downtown Jackson tonight and see what’s going on at all the spectacular galleries around town. Start in Jackson town square 5-8 pm.

To Splurge! on anything these days sorta seems like the wrong thing to do. But here’s a good “Live Well” way to look at it. No matter how you cut it, shopping apparently becomes a necessary evil around the holiday season. Sure you could scrap presents this year in the name of a struggling economy but wouldn’t that be rather ba-hum-bug of you? Perhaps by changing perspective a bit, we can see shopping as a good opportunity to support local businesses as well as the economy on the whole.
While it may not really be necessary to splurge, this organized community event it is certainly a way to wrap up your holiday present hunting in a few days while giving the local economy a boost.

About this time last year, Jackson Hole filmmaker Darell Miller premiered a movie entitled 300“- a tribute (or happy goodbye) to the winter of 2006-2007, which saw the weak accumulation of only 300″ of snow. This year and this weekend, in fact, Darell (and Storm Show Studios) did some math and doubled the number 300 for 600″ to appropriately recall the winter of 2007-2008 when a whopping 600 inches fell on Jackson Hole.
Shred heads will once again flood Snow King tonight to revel in remembrance of that unbelievable snowfall. It was a year when all sorts of nutty nut’s (like only Jackson Hole can produce) could strut their stuff on first descents and heart-stopping terrain that hasn’t been skied in years and, in some cases, decades.
Given the quantity and quality of the snow of ’08, this footage promises to be a nail biter and will surely induce a NARcatizing effect on the viewer. As winter nears, the crowd will be rowdy with anticipation and this community collaboration has many of the local no-name, out-of-their-mind skiers in the audience. It’s a great chance to see the fine crop of skiers and riders Jackson Hole’s legendary terrain produces.
