Terra Cafe Tuesday: Equal Exchange Coffee

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

As part of our weekly salute to Terra Cafe and all its goodness, Live Well will kick-off its first installment of our “Terra Cafe Tuesday” series with the only place to start…(nearly) everyone’s favorite…Coffee…

Coffee lovers out there who delight in a daily cup o’ Joe may take added pleasure in knowing that brew they are enjoying is fairly traded. Inside Hotel Terra Jackson Hole, the serene sippers oasis known as Terra Cafe proudly offers Equal Exchange Coffee. And here ‘s why.

Check out our partnership page here to learn more about Terra Cafe’s relationship with fairly traded Equal Exchange

Equal Exchange provides Terra Cafe with fairly traded and organic coffee, snacks, tea, cocoa and chocolate. Instead of exploiting small farmers, Equal Exchange celebrates and helps facilitate fair and earth friendly production and purchase of coffee for small time purveyors and farmers.

Since 1986, Equal Exchange has promoted The Big Change and their ideas for a food system empowering farmers and consumers. It’s an impressive organization and well before its time. The Big Change supports small farmer co-ops and that use sustainable farming methods. According to Equal Exchange, they “started with fairly traded coffee from Nicaragua and didn’t look back. Today, we continue to find new and powerful ways to build a better food system. We partner with co-operatives of farmers who provide high-quality organic coffees, teas, chocolates and snacks from farmers all over the world, including here in the United States”(www.equalexchange.coop).

Terra Cafe subscribes to the belief that creating meaningful partnerships like that with Equal Exchange “creates stronger local communities, a more just food system and a healthier planet” (www.equalexchange.coop).

Next time you are cozying into one of our supremely comfortable couches or chairs in Terra Cafe, know that you are drinking in good conscience and contributing to the greater good of supporting local growers as well as the greening of the planet.

Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa’s Bobo Bars

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Wanted to inform the masses that via Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa’s(located slopeside to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort) charming oasis of a gift shop, I discovered a devilishly wholesome treat.

Bobo's Organic Oat Bars

Bobo’s Oat Bars are “baked from the heart in Boulder , Colorado” and can be lovingly processed in the stomach just about anywhere.

This nutritious bar is an ideal on-the-go snack and is perfect for hitting the slopes on a sustained stomach or dashing to the airport to make your flight. Teton Mountain Lodge and Spa selected these healthful barsas the perfect caloric accompaniment to any adventurer  that may stay at the hotel. According to Bobo’s:

“Our mission is to produce the best tasting oat bar on Earth, using the healthiest, most wholesome organic ingredients. We aim to satisfy your craving for nourishment and delicious flavor, while respecting your bodies and your planet.

Through our health conscious Bobo Bars, we are spreading the truth that a healthy diet supports a wholesome lifestyle and peace of mind. Remember…Have Fun, Serve the Planet Unselfishly, and Create Abundance. And be Bobolicious.”

Bob’s Bars only have four ingredients and those who are hooked on hydrogenated oils find this unbelievable. How can a bar this big and chewy be… natural? The birth of the Bobo Bar, and others like it, is testament to the fact that all naturalis actually delicious tastier than processed goods. People everywhere are waking up to the fact that it is easier to be healthy by choosing a “hippy dippy” bar like this (“wheat free and vegan! you’re kidding me”) without even realizing it. They’re that tasty! Bobo’s Bars come in 9 flavors including apricot, banana, cinnemon raisin, chocolate, coconut, cranberry, original, peanut butter and strawberry. Savor all the flavors.

Bobo’s Oat Bars brought to you by Terra Resort Group: Mother ship to Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa, Hotel Terra Jackson Hole and The Inn at Jackson Hole.
