So as to not overdose our readers with too much footage, we thought we’d forgo the standard Corbets Carnage which usually airs every Thursday and replace it with a little collection of crashes from 2009 Dick’s Ditch Giant Banked Slalom.

So, if you are in Olympic withdrawal and you live here or are visiting, you can check out the 2010 race in the flesh today and tomorrow on the slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The ski and snowboard race course runs from Lupine Way down to South Pass traverse and spectating while skiing is a great way to spend a Saturday at Jackson Hole.

Rather not sit on the sidelines? The Teton Literacy Program asks “how many vertical feet can you shred?” with their annual fundraiser Laps for Literacy. Registration is at 8:30 am at Jackson Hole Mountain Resorts special events tent. Ski till your legs fall off…all for the great cause of literacy in Teton County. Happy Weekend! Here’s hoping it is a snowy and shreddy one.

Here’s something to plan ahead for: word is that (perhaps starting tomorrow), the US Women’s Ski Team Pre-Olympic Training is going to go down at Snow King this week. Tentative dates are (2/6-2/14). So get ready for the speedfest and make sure to head over and watch Lindsey Vonn and the ladies drop the hammer!

Based on the data from this graph, it’s a good time to be in Jackson Hole. 18 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours (12″ of which fell since the lifts closed) officially launches Jackson Hole into a complete winter wonderland. Some say, it’s the ultimate test at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Live Well says if you want to in fact be well-stay out till you’re pretty sure you can stick it. With a new year just on the horizon, there’s lots to do in Jackson Hole during the last days of 2009.

December 29 & 30th: Apres Ski Fun at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort:

• Miller Sisters Folk Trio
• Village Center
• “Gather round the pit for roping demonstrations & sledding fun”

When the music stops, head over for revelry and some local fun at Tommy’s Trivia Night. 6 pm. Cascade.

December 31: New Years Eve Celebration at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

“Start off your New Year’s Eve Celebration by watching children ski down Eagle Rest with glow sticks in hand. Tommy Moe, Olympic Gold Medalist, leads the kids down the hill at dusk! Stay for the adult torchlight and fireworks show at 6:00 PM. Sign up for the glow worm parade at the Kids Ranch on the day of the event.”

And nothing says New Years Eve like 2 for 1 drinks at Cascade. 5-8 pm.
