Weekend Guide: Re-live Jackson Hole’s Winter ’08
Friday, November 7th, 2008
About this time last year, Jackson Hole filmmaker Darell Miller premiered a movie entitled 300“- a tribute (or happy goodbye) to the winter of 2006-2007, which saw the weak accumulation of only 300″ of snow. This year and this weekend, in fact, Darell (and Storm Show Studios) did some math and doubled the number 300 for 600″ to appropriately recall the winter of 2007-2008 when a whopping 600 inches fell on Jackson Hole.
Shred heads will once again flood Snow King tonight to revel in remembrance of that unbelievable snowfall. It was a year when all sorts of nutty nut’s (like only Jackson Hole can produce) could strut their stuff on first descents and heart-stopping terrain that hasn’t been skied in years and, in some cases, decades.
Given the quantity and quality of the snow of ’08, this footage promises to be a nail biter and will surely induce a NARcatizing effect on the viewer. As winter nears, the crowd will be rowdy with anticipation and this community collaboration has many of the local no-name, out-of-their-mind skiers in the audience. It’s a great chance to see the fine crop of skiers and riders Jackson Hole’s legendary terrain produces.
