Jackson Hole’s notorious Off Season is officially here. For those of you who may not really understand the precepts of this period, we’ll take this opportunity to expand and explain. In the simplest of terms: It’s quiet. Some may say, almost dead. Since Jackson thrives off of its position as a major tourist destination in the peak seasons of summer and winter, the in-between days are noticeably deserted. Seemingly everyone hits the road leaving those few behind; a demographic which predominately consists of school children and their parents and working professionals. The ski bums and seasonal visitors tend to disappear for a while; bound for exotic locals like Moab, UT and the Grand Canyon or far-reaching destinations like Morocco or Brazil.
For those of us that are here, and even the brave few who are actually visiting, there is a significant upside to sticking around for the long, dark, (did we already say dismal) weeks in November. Indeed, the lack of “traffic” (if you dare ever use this word) is certainly refreshing but the best part: the killer dining deals. Ironically during a time where many people are not working (many restaurants are closed) and are understandably frugal, they nevertheless are inspired to go out and spend due to these irresistible discounts.
